Dr. Vittorio Cacciafesta

Dr. Cacciafesta received his dental training at the University of Naples "Federico II", Italy. In 1995-96 he was Research Fellow at the Department of Orthodontics, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. He received his Specialty and Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics at the Department of Orthodontics, Royal Dental College, Aarhus University, Denmark. Currently, he is Assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Orthodontics, University of Pavia, Italy. He was also Visiting Professor at the Department of Orthodontics, Aarhus University, Denmark, and Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. He has published over 100 refereed publications and 4 book chapters. He is Co-Editor of "Ortodonzia Clinica", Associate Editor of "Progress in Orthodontics" and Referee of the "American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics", "Angle Orthodontist", "European Journal of Orthodontics", "Journal of Clinical Orthodontics", "Journal of Orthodontics", "Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research", "Ortognatodonzia Italiana". His clinical interests are adult therapy, biomechanics, lingual orthodontics, interdisciplinary treatments. He has been lecturing extensively in the last few years in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, and North America.

Private practice in Rome with activity dedicated to Prosthetics, collaborating with specialist in other disciplines on the resolution of the cases particularly complex.

Awarded the "Garberoglio" Research Award of the Endodontics Italian Society (SIE) Research Group in 1996, 2000 and 2007 and the "Pietro De Fazio" Research Group in Restorative Dentistry Italian Society (SIDOC).

Prof. Dr. Antonio Cerutti

Prof. Dr. Iain Chapple

Iain Chapple is currently Professor and Head of Periodontology and Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Birmingham Dental School and Hospital. He is former Scientific Editor of the British Dental Journal and is currently Editor of Periodontology 2000, "Periodontal Practice Today" and Editorial Board member of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Journal of Periodontal Research. Iain is also the Periodontal Editor of a series of 7 textbooks by Quintessence and author of 6 of these texts. He was President of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Periodontal Research Group (2006-2007), former Chairman of the British Society for Dental Research (BSDR) Periodontal Research Group, Chair of the BSDR’s strategic review committee for Oral and Dental Research and member of the Department of Health’s working group on Dentists with Special Interests in Periodontology in the UK. He is the clinical lead for a hospital specialist periodontal service with a referral base of over 6 million. He also leads a periodontal research team active in the investigation of host-microbial interface and pathobiological aspects of periodontal disease diagnosis and development. He has published over 160 full papers and abstracts in his field and was awarded the Rizzo Research Award of the IADR Periodontal Research Group in Chiba Japan 2001. He is also a former winner of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP)’s Sir Wilfred Fish Research Prize, has been a council member of the BSP since 1994 and former Honorary Treasurer and founding member of the BSP’s Education and Conference Committee’s. Currently he is also Treasurer of the European Federation of Periodontology. Iain has a strong interest in free radical and antioxidant biology in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases had has delivered annual keynote lectures/symposia at IADR, EuroPerio and BSDR on the subject.
